powerlines

ive had a fascination with power lines and transmission towers since I could remember

im not sure how old I was other than I was in grammar school, me and a few other kids were getting ready for an acorn fight, and walked up the access trail where the power lines flanked the highway.

you could hear the endless hum and if you threw something at the at the tower it made a loud echo. sometimes we’d find a light pole or utility pole with guy wires that we hit and made sing too.

below is a photograph of a transmission tower taken with a Pentax auto 110 camera, shot on l fujicolor 110 film and dropped off for fuji labs to develop it back when they returned the negatives. these days you’ll be lucky if they return your film…

I am a Freelance Photographer in Rhode Island. I make photographs using a variety of methods with and without a camera, and I teach photography online and in person. I make photo emulsions from scratch, I coat my own photo paper and make cyanotypes too. I am a huge fan of Caffenol ( I helped write the Caffenol Cookbook ) and instead of instant coffee, I roast my own Sumatra Robusta beans. I sell them so you can make your own long lasting, film and print developer called Sumatranol. I also sell silver recovery products.
