Reversals, again

I’ve been at it again.

for years I’ve been working reversal developers for making positives on photo paper onsite.

I’ve got some shallots that’ve been steeping for 15 weekends.

shallots ? yes shallots!

they aren’t just for good eating, it seems they are also for developing paper. the person who wrote about this originally steeped his shallots in alcohol for a few days or a week and it took him 3 hours to get a print. I’ve extended the time hoping to extract more of the good-stuff so when I mix it with coffee, it will do it’s thing a little faster.

if it doesn’t work, it’s just shallots.

im guessing it’s gonna smell kind of fun when I open up the jar. months ago I had the same sort of hankering and I used leeks, it gave off a nice sulfur reek.

I am a Freelance Photographer in Rhode Island. I make photographs using a variety of methods with and without a camera, and I teach photography online and in person. I make photo emulsions from scratch, I coat my own photo paper and make cyanotypes too. I am a huge fan of Caffenol ( I helped write the Caffenol Cookbook ) and instead of instant coffee, I roast my own Sumatra Robusta beans. I sell them so you can make your own long lasting, film and print developer called Sumatranol. I also sell silver recovery products.
