if you are like me sometimes you log into a place and get an account and forget about it. if you have a keychain you’re lucky because it reminds you what accounts you have and to change passwords but it won’t tell you to delete your account.
Yes, it’s true, people might spoof your ip address ( 10 years olds do this to bypass parental controls, so if your ‘tween is still on your router even though you turned off access at 11pm you might look into this) and cause trouble. unfortunately you might run into a website that used to be kind of fun, but after a dozen years management was asleep at the switch and it allowed itself to go toxic / overrun by bots, trolls and haters. and then, sadly when you leave they give you a bogus reason why they “can’t” delete your posts ( as they did for people for nearly 20 years if / when they asked ).
if you ask me, this should be illegal, but sadly some websites, have no responsibility for their patrons. their terms and conditions statements might be empty words as they monetize the bots, trolls and haters as traffic / clickbait …
gotta love the internet !
so do yourself a huge favor. delete your account or don’t participate, it’s not worth the trouble.
